In the opening pages of DIE FOR YOU, the reader is offered a window into the comfortable, happy life of successful novelist Isabel Raine and her husband, Marcus, a brilliant inventor of high-tech games. They live on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and seem to have an enviable relationship. However, when Marcus kisses Isabel good-bye one cold morning and walks out the door, he disappears forever. Afraid and confused, Isabel begins a desperate search for him, starting at his downtown office where she finds everyone dead. When she returns to their apartment, it has been ransacked and their bank account emptied. Soon she discovers that
her husband is not at all the man she thought he was. Marcus Raine – the real Marcus Raine – died years ago. Isabel has been living with a complete stranger.

How do we ever really know someone? How can we be so easily deceived by the person we see every day – and trust the most completely? How can a marriage you believe in be a sham? The story of Isabel’s relentless search for the truth about her husband – a search that ultimately sends her to Prague – is filled with psychological insight into the motives behind deceit and greed, not only for Isabel, but for her sister, Linda, whose own perfect marriage is not at all what it seems.

Lisa Unger has been lavishly praised by critics for writing thrillers that stand out from the pack with fully formed characters; powerful, elegant prose; and compelling insights into how families deceive themselves. With DIE FOR YOU, Unger is hitting her stride, and readers will know they are in the hands of a master storyteller.
