New York Fashion House Sara Mique to Hold Oct. 24 “Charitable Afternoon in Style” Shopping Event to Benefit Making Autistic Strides

Sara Mique, the New York City-turned-Florida special occasion women’s apparel fashion design house, is holding a “Charitable Afternoon in Style” to benefit Making Autistic Strides (MAS), a non-profit, parent-run South Florida organization dedicated to raising autism awareness across the nation. The shopping event will be held at Sara Mique’s chic Coconut Creek, Fla. retail showroom.

Parkland members of MAS, all mothers of autistic children, will be modeling Sara Mique’s uniquely elegant evening wear, including non-traditional and destination bridal gowns, mother-of-the-bride dresses, cocktail dresses, black tie and special occasion dresses, as well as the “Florida Casual Mesh Collection”. Guests will enjoy informal modeling, giveaways, as well as finger foods and light refreshments.

Twenty percent of all purchases made during the event will be donated to MAS. Also, all attendees will receive a certificate, allowing 20 percent of their purchases through the end of 2010 to go to the charity.

“Sara Mique is actively involved in giving back to the South Florida community,” said Joan Lamonica, founder and owner of Sara Mique. “We’re very pleased to be involved with Making Autistic Strides, an organization that is making a great difference in the lives of autistic children and their families.”

For almost 30 years, Sara Mique has been creating beautiful women’s apparel of all sizes cut from only the highest quality unique laces, silks, velvets and embroideries. Each Sara Mique garment is custom-made; hand-sewn by an expert seamstress and individually hand-dyed by a textile artist directly behind the retail showroom. There are no buttons or zippers on Sara Mique garments, giving them the ease and comfort of a leotard.
