New Orleans Band Galactic to Perform At Third Annual CrawDebauchery Food & Music Festival

unnamed-165The New Orleans band Galactic will be the featured act at the third annual CrawDebauchery Food & Music Festival, April 2-3, at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater Field, it was announced here today.

The group’s music has been described as a mix of rap, funk, soul, rhythm and blues and New Orleans brass band jazz.

“We’re ecstatic to be able to have Galactic perform at this year’s festival,” said event organizer Don Matthews. “They are extremely popular and I’m confident everyone will enjoy their mind-blowing, incredible talent.”

It’s been more than 20 years since Ben Ellman, Robert Mercurio, Stanton Moore, Jeff Raines and Rich Vogel began exploring the seemingly limitless musical possibilities born out of their work together as Galactic. Since then, the seminal New Orleans band has consistently pushed the artistic boundaries on the road and in the studio, approaching their music with open ears and drawing inspiration as much from the sounds bubbling up from their city’s streets as they do from each other.

Featuring New Orleans crawfish and music, the festival has expanded to two days this year. In addition to a massive crawfish boil, food and art vendors, Matthews has booked other top tier musicians for this year’s event to complement Galactic.

On Saturday, Rockin’ Jake, Stan & the Streetwalkers and Maggie Koerner will perform, while the Cajun/Zydeco groups will include Chubby Carrier, Dwayne Dopsie and Geno Delafose.

Sunday’s highlighted acts will include the Papa John Gros Band, Bonerama and Raw Oyster Cult with The Porchdogs, the Lafayette Rhythm Devils, the Savoy Family Band and Carrier.

Tickets (priced at $25 to $125) are on sale now and can be purchased via www.CrawDebauchery.com.
