Grammy-winning, multiplatinum hip-hop superstar NELLY hosted an exclusive private listening party for his hotly anticipated sixth album, 5.0, at The Griffin in New York City on October 26, 2010. Guests included Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone, multiplatinum R&B singer Ashanti, Derrty Ent. recording artist Avery Storm, and myriad media luminaries.
NELLY kicked off the event by presenting the world premiere of the music video for his scorching new single, “Move That Body,” which features T-Pain and Akon, and was co-produced by Dr. Luke and Bangladesh. Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the Fight Club-inspired clip finds NELLY joined by T-Pain, Akon, T.I., and Jermaine Dupri at a subterranean club where they hedge their bets on combative female dancers competing in a fierce battle royal. Following the premiere of the video, NELLY introduced 5.0 and played tracks from the new album, including “I’m Number 1,” featuring Birdman and DJ Khaled; “Long Gone,” the upcoming third single featuring Chris Brown and Plies; “She’s So Fly,” featuring T.I.; and a bonus track from the deluxe album called “Go,” featuring Ali from the St. Lunatics and Talib Kweli. Other guests on the standard album include Diddy (“1000 Stacks”), Kelly Rowland (“Gone”), and Keri Hilson (“Liv Tonight”), while Avery Storm (“If I Gave U 1”) and Dirty Money with Murphy Lee (“k.I.s.s.”) appear on the other deluxe bonus tracks.
5.0’s RIAA-certified platinum lead single “Just a Dream,” co-produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, is currently No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Pop Songs chart, and No. 4 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard’s Digital Songs chart, in addition to holding a firm grip at No. 1 on iTunes’ Top Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart. Without a doubt, “Just a Dream” remains the hottest single at radio while the music video—directed by Sanji and featuring actress-singer Kat Graham from the hit CW series The Vampire Diaries, plus a cameo by Shannon Brown from the LA Lakers—has received more than 13 million views on VEVO.
