Neil Berg Returns to Hard Rock Live with “100 Years of Hollywood,” a Tribute to the Silver Screen, on May 8

Following the enthusiastic response to his hit Broadway revue “100 Years of Broadway,” creator Neil Berg returns to Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on May 8 at 8 p.m. with an all new show, “Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Hollywood.”  This highly anticipated return engagement features a musical revue of some of the greatest songs from Hollywood’s most popular movie musicals and classic films sung by a dazzling cast of five Broadway stars accompanied by an all-star New York band. “100 Years of Hollywood” recreates memorable moments from the most-loved movie musicals and classic films of the last century including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Casablanca, Jailhouse Rock, the Wizard of Oz, Goldfinger, Moulin Rouge, A Star is Born, Titanic, Dreamgirls, New York New York and many more.

 

Along with musical director and pianist Neil Berg, the production will feature performances by Broadway’s Ray McLeod (Wonderful Town), Rita Harvey (The Phantom of the Opera), Carter Calvert (It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues, Smoky Joe’s Cafe), Danny Zolli (Jesus Christ Superstar), and Erick Buckley (Les Miserables)*. Past productions of this popular show have featured Bernadette Peters, Betty Buckley, Liz Callaway, Ben Vereen, and Alex Santoriello among others.

 

The award-winning Neil Berg is the creator and co-producer of “100 Years of Hollywood,” the number one Broadway touring concert in the United States.

 

As owner of Leftfield Productions, Inc., Berg has produced over 1,000 Broadway concerts, worldwide, with such stars as Michael Crawford, Rita Moreno, Donna McKechnie, Liz Callaway, Mark Kudisch, Alice Ripley, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Stephanie Block and many other greats.

 

He is the composer/lyricist of the hit Off-Broadway musical The Prince and the Pauper, the composer for Grumpy Old Men based on the Warner Brothers movie classic starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau and co-collaborator with Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Robert Schenkkan of the rock musical, The 12, which had its World Premiere at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale in 2010. He has also produced a musical of The Man Who Would Be King, with book and lyrics by DJ Salisbury, and Tim and Scrooge, with book and lyrics by Nick Meglin (former editor of Mad Magazine). Neil also composed the new musical Heidi, book by Julia Jordan and commissioned by Douglas Love and the Walden Family Theater. Other new projects in development are musical versions of Pollyanna and The Count of Monte Cristo. Other commissioned works include Percy Penguin for the Penguin Repertory Theater, Threads for the Helen Hayes Theater and Fiona: The Mother Goose Musical.

 

Berg was also the composer/music supervisor on the feature film Searching For Bobby D. featuring Carmen Electra, Sandra Bernhard, and Mario Cantone, and is composer/music supervisor of the film Goat starring Armand Assante, Ice-T and Ja Rule.

 

Neil Berg was the producing artistic director of The Broadway Series at the world famous China Club in NYC. Over the past 20 years, Neil has been the musical director/entertainment coordinator for such esteemed organizations as Covenant House and The Leukemia Society of America. He has produced countless corporate events across the world for UBS/Paine Webber, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte & Touche, John Hancock, Marriott Corporation, IBM, The United Hospice Organization and many others.

 

Berg was the recipient of the 1995 Bistro Award for Best Musical for his show “Asylum in the Night,” a revue of Neil’s theater music. In 2010, Berg was honored with the Distinguished Citizen’s Award, along with Academy Award -winning actress Ellen Burstyn, by The Rockland Family Shelter for his efforts on behalf of abused women. He has also received honors from The American Red Cross, The United Hospice Foundation and the Arts Council of Rockland County.

 

Berg is the proud co-owner, with John Asselta, of the SJR Theater Workshop, a theater camp for students in Montvale NJ, which instructs over 200 young actors/singers a year.
