National Genealogical Society 2016 Family History Conference May 4-7, 2016

If you want to learn more about your ancestors and how to search your family tree, then make time to visit The Broward County Convention Center May 4-7.  Fort Lauderdale will play host to genealogists from around the country and the world at the National Genealogical Society (NGS) 2016 Family History Conference. This four-day conference, May 4-7, 2016, will feature 180 lectures from basic to advanced genealogical research, including twelve lectures on genetic genealogy. Diversity is another focus of this year’s conference. Eighteen lectures discuss African-American genealogical research, five focus on Jewish genealogy, two on Cuban genealogy, and nine on women. Floridians and those with ancestors from Florida will want to consider the nine lectures that focus on Florida’s rich archival history.

Individuals may register to attend right at the conference hall, for a day at a time, or all four days. The NGS Exhibit Hall is free to the public and is a great chance to meet experts and many leaders of genealogical societies across the U.S., plus innovators of products and services that help support family history work, including Ancestry, Family Search and Findmypast.

“We are thrilled to host the 2016 National Genealogical Society Family History Conference in Greater Fort Lauderdale,” said Nicki E. Grossman, president, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Conference attendees and exhibitors are sure to feel our warm, sunny welcome through special activities designed to enhance the conference and destination experience.”

Additionally, D. Joshua Taylor, MA, MLS, and co-host of PBS’s “Genealogy Roadshow” is participating in the conference and is encouraging others seeking their ancestors to attend.  “Conferences like this are a great place to get started on your family history and meet others who are tracing their roots…for anyone interested in their genealogy living in Florida the NGS conference is the place to be this week,” said Joshua.
