MOVIE OF THE BALLET STONE FLOWER TO BENEFIT JAPAN

Back in January of 2011, Maestro Vladimir Issaev, had the opportunity to stage his new choreography of the Ballet STONE FLOWER using the beautiful score of Prokofiev. The premiere took place at the prestigious Aichi Performing Arts Center in Nagoya, Japan and performed by the Matsumoto Ballet under the artistic direction of legendary prima ballerina of Japan Ms. Michiko Matsumoto.

During the opening night the audience gave a standing ovation to the ballet company, to its director Ms. Matsumoto and to – Russian born and American by pride and choice – Mr. Vladimir Issaev.

The success was evident and the Matsumoto company produced a beautiful movie of the ballet, which Mr. Issaev received a copy in his headquarters in Miami, just a few days before the fatidic earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan.

The Stone Flower tale takes place in the Ural Mountains. A local stone-cutter Danilo abandons his fiancée, Katerina, in pursue of the perfect stone where he can create a magnificent Stone Flower. The Mistress of the Mountain – the Snake – shows him a legendary flower made of stone. Danilo becomes determined to carve one like it in Malachite, the deep green marble-like mineral native to Russia. Meanwhile, Katarina is harassed by the story’s villain, the terrible mine foreman Severyan. The Snake captures the despicable man and compels the ground to open and swallow him in one piece. Katarina finds Danilo with the help of the magic fire, but the Snake becomes upset when Danilo wants to leave the mountain of beautiful stones, going after the love of beautiful and loyal Katerina.  The music of composer Prokofiev that accompanies the story is just magnificent.

As homage to the people of Japan and with the purpose of raising funds for its recovery after the terrible earthquake, Vladimir Issaev and the dancers of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, cordially invite you to enjoy the screening of this movie that will take place on Thursday April 14 at 6:45 pm at the AMC 24 Aventura Movie Theater at the Aventura Mall.
