Mother’s of Children with Special Needs Receive Special Valentine’s Gifts from CDTC’s Sunflower Circle of Friends

Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center’s (CDTC) Sunflower Circle of Friends hosted a special Valentine’s Jewelry Giveaway on Thursday, February 10, 2011 for the mothers of children with special health care needs seen at the Center.  Hundreds of pieces of costume jewelry, belts and scarves were collected and displayed during the event which allowed the moms to “shop” for their favorite piece of jewelry, as well as to select a scarf or a belt.  Over 150 moms were part of this special event.  In its third year, this event continues to serve more mothers each year.

“These moms have a most difficult job caring for these medically fragile children 24/7 and we want to make sure they are not forgotten.  Our goal with this event is to help boost their spirits and let them know they are appreciated,” said Susie Perlman, president of the Sunflower Circle of Friends.

The Sunflower Circle of Friends is a support group of volunteers dedicated to raising awareness of the mission of CDTC and increasing volunteer support for its medical and family services.  Founded in 2004, Sunflower has grown from 18 to over 100 members.
