Month Long Rainbow Families Celebration @ Miami Children’s Museum

There’s a rainbow filled festival going on at Miami Children’s Museum – a place for all children and families – all throughout the month of June.  The Museum is celebrating the pride and diversity of rainbow families in an online affair, and everyone is invited to celebrate LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) families and those with gender non-conforming children.  A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

The month will feature playful and inclusive activities that show support for all LGBTQ families. Edwin Creates, a visual artist and art educator, will show children and families how to make a mixed media rainbow and encourage them to share their art online.  The Yes Institute will host an interactive and engaging conversation on Zoom about gender stereotypes, authentic experiences of children, and what parents can do to champion welcoming and safe environments for young people.  There will be story times with special guests featuring stories that challenge stereotypes and explore diversity; art projects that demonstrate the importance of inclusion and how to be an ally against bullying; a resource list with information on youth support, LGTBQ+ education, and ways to be an ally; and so much more!

This celebration is made possible with the support of Nordstrom and other contributing partners, including Edwin Creates, Human Rights Campaign, Safe Schools South Florida, and Yes Institute.
