MIMO MADNESS

MiMo MADNESS, the Third Annual Street Festival sponsored by the MiMo Biscayne Association will celebrate the historic Miami Modern architecture on Biscayne Boulevard.  MiMo MADNESS will be held Saturday, March 20th from 10AM to 8PM.  MiMo MADNESS, formally called Cinco de MiMo held in May the last two years is being moved to March.

The Madness Kick-Off Party hosted by Moonchine Asian Bistro, 7100 Biscayne, 5PM-8PM Friday, March 19th.  Enjoy a live D.J., snacks and Happy Hour prices for special drinks and food items.

On Saturday, MiMo Boulevard will come alive with antique and craft vendors, street performers, historic tours, stilt walkers, comic characters, artists, live music, free face painting, stilt walkers and tasty tastes of MiMo from many of the MiMo Restaurants (listed below) along the way.  For the second year Moonchine Asian Bistro presents its Karaoke Cocktail Party, this year starring the Upper Eastside’s very own “King & Queen of Karaoke” Chrisy & A-Rod – If you are a Karaoke buff and want to join in or just like to watch others sing along, stop by for A LOT OF FUN.  Chop Shop’s Car Show is back for the 3rd year @ 7283 & along with live music & other surprises!

If you have yet to see the Florida Circus School performers – this is a DON’T MISS performance, Wallove’s Coppertone Photo Op returns @ 7300, the Antique & Collectible Fair with Antique Vehicles @ 7350; Imperial Wines will have a DJ, music, Art show & wine tasting @ 7235, and at Smiling Pets, 7310 under the Coppertone Sign, you will find “Yappy Days at the Doggie Bag Café” – Enjoy 50’s Music by Elvis, Bill Hayley and the Comets, Grease, the theme song of Happy Days and much more… Dress you and your pup as your favorite character of the 50’s…Fonzie, Richie, Joanie from Happy Days or as Danny or Sandy from Grease, or … Enjoy the “Drive In” movies and enjoy some popcorn with your four-legged friend!  Be there or be square!

“Spa Saturday at the Consignment Bar”. Offering makeovers, massages, brow shaping – wine & cheese reception from 10-6PM, 7416.  A Tropical Paradise in the gardens with music, a sneak preview of the new salon to come The Divine Hair Lounge and Gallery with a wine reception and exhibit with Fashion photographer Dupry, Divine Trash is having a wine reception and Jewelry artist “Baker Lovett” all @ 7244; and, Side walks sales at Chantik 6667 & Soma 6901.

Historic tours beginning at 73rd Street will be offered at 10:30AM sharp.  “FREE PARKING” for cars and bikes will be locate @ 75th Street.  Taste of MiMo restaurants will serve tasty bites from $2-$5 starting at noon. The following are the MIMO BOULEVARD restaurants participating:

History in the making!  You are cordially invited to the Grand Opening celebration at the historic New Yorker Motel, 6500.This is the first MiMo Motel to be rehabilitated with such care – the original name and neon has been restored. Rooms are fully decorated in “MiMo” Style. This is nostalgia at its best!  There will be surprises as the evening unfolds starting at 6PM.
