Miami’s Young Professionals In Arts and Entertainment Event at Club 50 Viceroy Hotel

It’s a Hit! Club 50 at the Viceroy Hotel in Brickell introduced Miami’s Young Professionals in Arts & Entertainment Event on Friday March 5, 2010 and drew one of the biggest crowds, even the City Fire Marshall paid a visit to keep an eye on capacity. Industry professionals from top agencies and networks attended for an evening of cocktails, networking and social gathering. The party will continue monthly due to high demand and overwhelming turnout.

Nestled on pristine Biscayne Bay, the Viceroy hotel and condo resort of Icon Brickell has redefined the meaning of luxury. After opening its doors in 2009, this new 10-acre residential complex was designed by Philippe Starck featuring exquisite dining, the EOS restaurant, a full service spa, 162 guestrooms and suites, and just when you thought their longest pool in Florida was enough to top hotels, they even have a 50-person hot tub. One of the most remarkable views in all of Miami is seen from Club 50, Viceroy’s rooftop lounge and restaurant, sitting 50 stories high.

Club 50 has attracted the likes of many celebrities and South Florida’s socialites and is now introducing the monthly Miami’s Young Professionals in Arts & Entertainment Event. Club 50 will be hosting the next event on Thursday April 15, 2010 starting at 9pm. FEATURED ARTIST JOHN BREVARD – APRIL 15, 2010

John Brevard has spent much of his life developing and fine tuning his artistic eye to design and create sculptures that reflect his experiences of transpersonal growth. Although his familial background did not infuse such art into his daily life, John’s upbringing and childhood experiences clearly shaped him into the designer and artist he is today.

Raised in Miami, FL., John was born into a family of prominent political figures that date back to the early 1700s. His grandmother Mary Call Collins was widely considered to be Florida’s First Lady, his ancestor, Governor Richard Keith Call, acted as lieutenant in the army alongside notables like Andrew Jackson and George Washington, and John’s grandfather, Governor Leroy Collins, was the chairman of the Democratic National Convention and responsible for the inauguration of John F. Kennedy for presidency. Surrounded by such history and acknowledgeable achievements, John began to question his own existence and looked toward art as a way to express his inner feelings. At the young age of 14, John had a life altering experience and almost died from a combined form of encephalitis and meningitis. After waking from a two-weekcoma, he viewed life differently with a sustained interest in design, ecology, the arts and alternate states of consciousness.

During college at the University of Florida, John found his artistic niche and pursued a bachelors degree in architecture along with a masters of science in sustainable design. In order to research and fulfill his master’s thesis titled “Sustainable Being: Worldview shifts and the Reconstruction of Human Consciousness,” John traveled the world to places like Thailand, Malaysia, China, South America and Europe, and engaged in meditation retreats and out of body experiences. He also attended various conferences to understand consciousness, physics, and ecology, which led to the conclusion that humans can only live in accordance with natural order if there is a fundamental shift in consciousness and an underlying sense of unity and cohesion.

John’s educational background and world travels led him to his current position as a talented designer, design consultant and artist in the burgeoning design district of Miami. He has spent the past seven years of his life creating different art series that illustrate his experiences: the bronze series (still in development) is based upon a transpersonal dimension; the black and white series expresses loss of identity and breaking free of the ego; and his petrified wood series looks at the potential for people to merge economy and ecology.
