MIAMI THEATER CENTER ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF AUDIENCE FAVORITE, ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND

launches their 2015-2016 season with the return of their spellbinding, contemporary production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This visually arresting, multimedia adaptation – commemorating the 150th anniversary of the beloved classic by Lewis Carroll – will be presented on the MainStage, October 21st through November 20th, 2015.

 

Directed by Miami native and Artistic Director Stephanie Ansin, MTC’s contemporary production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland takes the time-honored heroine through an ever-changing dream world inspired by the magic of South Florida.

 

Audiences of all ages will be enchanted by references to the South Florida community, costuming inspired by the provocative works of Alexander McQueen, and a character twist based on the pop-punk heartthrob, Pete Wentz, from Fall Out Boy.

 

Performances are only open to the general public on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 2 p.m. Weekday performances take place Tuesdays through Fridays, at 10 a.m., October 21st through November 20th, 2015, and are open only for select Miami-Dade County schools.

As part of MTC’s Theater Inclusion Program (TIP), the performance on October 25thwill include accessible services: ASL (American Sign Language), open captioning, and audio description.

 

MTC’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a uniquely contemporary adaptation by MTC Artistic Director Stephanie Ansin and MTC Resident Artist Fernando Calzadilla. The production is directed by Ansin, with costume, lighting, and set design by Calzadilla. It was choreographed by Octavio Campos, with original music and sound design by Luciano Stazzone, and photography and videography by Maria Teresa Alvarado.

 

The cast of MTC’s modern take on this classic will include: Diana Garle (Alice); Linda Bernhard (Macaw/Cheshire Cat); Selena Castellon (Grouper/March Hare/Executioner); Troy Davidson (Turtle/Mad Hatter/Pat); John Dennison (White Rabbit); Chris Anthony Ferrer (Crab/Caterpillar); Jovon Jacobs (Mouse/Bill/Knave); Edson Jean (Duck/Ekeko/King); Krystel Mills (Female Understudy); Malia Nicolini (Queen of Hearts/Door Mouse/Owl); and Adam Ramos (Male Understudy). Production team includes Art Garcia (Assistant Technical Director), Naomi Zapata (Stage Manager) and Lucky Bruno (Movement & Voice Director).

 

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is funded, in part, by the Ronald M. Ansin Foundation and Ophelia and Juan Js. Roca.

 

Performances will take place at MTC, your home for theater and culture, located at 9806 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami Shores.
