Miami New Times’ Burgerfest

Miami New Times is proud to host Burgerfest on July 7th at Soho Studios! In its inaugural year, the event will offer unlimited samples from over 20 of Miami’s best burger joints, live entertainment, cash bars, and a burger-judging contest.

 

The judges participating in the burger-judging competition are very well known to the Miami food scene.  Jorgie Ramos, owner of Barley in Downtown Dadeland and soon to launch Abi Maria, AND 2018 winner of the South Beach Wine and Food Burger Bash, will lead the parade of qualified judges.  Joining Chef Ramos will be chef-proprietors of Sparky’s Roadside Barbecue Kevin Kehoe and Hans Seitz.  These are two chefs who know a good piece of grilled meat. Also selected to judge is Chef Allen Susser, James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef in 1994, publisher of The Great Mango Book and host of Miami New Times’ Iron Fork competition.

 

Restaurants participating in the competition will only be allowed to use Certified Angus Beef™ patties and will be judged on a variety of components such as combination of flavors to presentation of the burger to the juiciness of the patty.  The winning restaurant will receive the inaugural Certified Angus Beef™ Best Burger 2018 Award.

 

VIP admission tickets include one-hour early admission at 5 p.m.; access to the Certified Angus Beef™ VIP Lounge brought to you by Miami Purveyors, offering a complimentary VIP sponsored bar and unlimited food samples from Certified Angus Beef™; and all the perks of general admission. General-admission tickets include entry to the event at 6 p.m., unlimited food samples from Burgerfest vendors, and access to cash bars.

New restaurants added to the already strong burger line up for sampling are Doggi’s Arepa BarYDon Deo Brewing Bar & Grill, Clutch Burger, Killer Melts and Boss Burger N BrewsNew Times has paired with Wounded Veterans Relief Fund as a charity partner. WVRF will receive a portion of ticket proceeds, and any leftover food will be donated to feed the homeless in Miami-Dade County.
