Miami Mass Choir to celebrate new album at Free Gospel Sundays concert – December 11

image003South Florida’s beloved gospel group MIAMI MASS CHOIR will headline the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County’s next FREE GOSPEL SUNDAYSconcert with a stirring performance in celebration of the group’s new album, Miami Mass Choir Live: At the Adrienne Arsht Center. The album, set to release on December 9, features an invigorating fusion of traditional, contemporary and multicultural styles of gospel music. As the Center’s resident choir, MIAMI MASS CHOIR, together with the Adrienne Arsht Center, invite audience members to join the celebration on December 11 at 5 p.m. in the acoustically superb John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.

Led by Pastor Marc Cooper, MIAMI MASS CHOIR has evolved into one of the most sought after choirs in the country. The ensemble is comprised of South Florida’s top gospel singers and gifted songwriters. In 1997, the group’s breakout single, “What God Has For Me Is For Me,” debuted as a Billboard chart-topping hit leading to the success of their first album It’s Praying Time which earned the group its first Stellar Award for Choir of the Year. In 2000, MIAMI MASS CHOIR collaborated with legendary gospel artist Dorothy Norwood on the Grammy-nominated album Ole Rickety Bridge.

Miami Mass Choir Live: At the Adrienne Arsht Center is the dynamic group’s fourth album and features special appearances by South Florida artists, including legendary soul singer Betty Wright, powerhouse vocalist Beverly Crawford, contemporary Christian singer Tony LeBron and gospel’s soulful crooner Zacardi Cortez.

“This new album is an opportunity to continue MIAMI MASS CHOIR’s legacy of promoting local songwriters, musicians and singers who desire to use their gifts,” said Pastor Marc Cooper, Miami Mass Choir Director. “Performing at the Arsht Center also gives us the opportunity to reach South Florida’s diverse community and introduce gospel music to a new generation of listeners.”

In 2010, MIAMI MASS CHOIR became the resident choir of the Arsht Center. The group has performed regularly and shared the stage with gospel greats including Dottie Peoples, Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp and Yolanda Adams, to name a few.

Miami Mass Choir Live: At the Adrienne Arsht Center will be available for sale in the lobby of the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.
