The Miami Gallos announced today that their March 13th match against the Memphis Force will take place at The Fillmore Miami Beach. The World Series of Boxing event on Sunday will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The Fillmore Miami Beach, located at 1700 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139, which was once the Miami Beach Municipal Auditorium was known for hosting boxing matches in the 1950’s & 1960’s when Miami Beach was essentially the fight capital of the world.
“As we get closer to the conclusion of our inaugural season, we are ecstatic to be bringing our event to Miami Beach,” said Mike Sophia, General Manager of the Miami Gallos. “With the rich boxing history in Miami Beach we feel that The Fillmore is the perfect venue to showcase these elite boxers.”
The Gallos come into this match at 3-7, one point ahead of the Memphis Force, who are also carrying a 3-7 record. The Gallos will be looking to avenge their March 3rd loss to the Force and continue to attempt to stop their recent losing streak.
The weigh-in for Sunday’s event will be held at Angelo Dundee’s 5th Street Gym (555 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139) on Saturday, March 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The legendary 5th St. Gym, which has seen countless champions come through its doors to train, including Muhammad Ali, Carmen Basilio, and Willie Pastrano, reopened in September of 2010 and is once again a hub for boxing in Miami Beach.
