MIAMI GALLOS HOLD SPARRING SESSION WITH BAKU FIRES

Adrian Martinez of the Miami Gallos spars with Magomed Abdulhamidov of the Baku Fires The Miami Gallos continued training today for the upcoming World Series of Boxing (WSB) season by hosting members of the Baku Fires for a sparring session.  The Fires, who reside in Azerbaijan and will compete for the World Series of Boxing in the Asian conference, have been training in South Florida for the past month.

Seven members of the Baku team took part in the sparring session that was held at the Miami Gallos’ boxing gym at Tropical Park.

The sparring session gave both teams an opportunity to experience new opponents and new fighting styles.

It was good to have the guys from the Baku team in here to change up the sparring routine,” said Gallos Head Coach Pat Burns.  “I was very pleased with the way our guys performed and the way they treated their opponents.”

While Miami and Baku will not face each other in the WSB regular season, they could potentially meet in the play-offs or championships.

Also making an appearance at the training session was former undisputed middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor, who came out to spar with some of the fighters and get in a workout.
