Miami Dolphins signed tight end Jeron Mastrud and waived running back Clifton Smith and tight end John Nalbone

The Miami Dolphins signed tight end Jeron Mastrud and waived running back Clifton Smith and tight end John Nalbone, it was announced today.

Mastrud was signed off the Dolphins practice squad and was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during training camp prior to being released on September 4. He was signed to the Dolphins practice squad on September 8. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent on April 26, 2010, Mastrud appeared in all four preseason games for the Buccaneers, however did not record a reception.

A four-year letter winner at Kansas State (2007-10), Mastrud ranks first among Wildcat tight ends with 106 receptions and second in team annals with 1,219 career receiving yards. He appeared in 48 of a possible 49 games for Kansas State and started team-best 26-straight games to finish his career. Born December 17, 1987, Mastrud attended South Ridge High School in Beaverton, Oregon.
