Books & Books and The Miami Book Fair are thrilled to announce a night with #1 New York Times bestselling author Nelson DeMille, alongside his award-winning screenwriter son, Alex DeMille on Wednesday, November 6, 8pm.

The Deserter (Simon & Schuster, $28.99) is a blistering new thriller featuring a brilliant and unorthodox Army investigator, his sharp but troubling new partner, and their hunt for the Army’s most notorious—and dangerous—deserter hiding out in Caracas, Venezuela.

Loosely inspired by the Bowe Bergdahl scandal, The Deserter takes readers inside one of the most dangerous places in the world—only the second setting in Nelson’s twenty-one book career that was too dangerous for him to research in person. It also introduces a brilliant cast of characters whose intelligence, romantic tension, and biting humor showcase Nelson at his best and signal an exciting breakout talent in Alex.

This book is the first in a timely and thrilling new series from an unbeatable team of true masters.

Nelson Demille is an American author of action adventure and suspense novels. He’s written 21 books, which include Plum IslandThe Charm School, and The Gold Coast. DeMille has also written under the pen names Jack Cannon, Kurt Ladner, Ellen Kay and Brad Matthews.
