Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Miami Film Festival, Museum of Art and Design (MOAD), Miami Book Fair, Koubek Center and Live Arts Miami will participate in the inaugural Open House Miami, Spearheaded by The Miami Center for Architecture and Design (MCAD) and part of the Open House Worldwide Architecture Festival, Open House is being hosted by Miami Beach for the first time ever. As part of the program, MDC offers a free, vibrant cultural showcase for the community on Friday, March 1, from 6-9 p.m. at MDC’s Koubek Center. This event is free and open to the public.
Everyone is invited to an unforgettable evening featuring architecture, art, music, film, dance, literary experiences and more. Since it was founded in 1959, MDC has been a pillar of education and a cultural beacon in South Florida, offering a variety of programming that celebrates the rich tapestry of the communities it serves. Open House Miami epitomizes this tradition, presenting a unique opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in MDC’s multifaceted cultural offerings.

- Miami Film Festival Shorts: A special presentation of unique and independent short films that captivate and inspire.
- Miami Book Fair “Office Hours”: Dive into the world of the Miami Book Fair with a focus on the 2024 Miami Big Read, featuring Madeline Miller’s novel “CIRCE,” and enjoy interactive literary experiences.
- Koubek Center Roving Performers: Be enchanted by playful performers throughout the evening, adding an element of surprise and delight.
- Live Arts Miami Indian Bhangra Themed Dance Party: From 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m, try your hand (or your feet) at Bhangra, a traditional folk dance from the Punjab area of the Indian subcontinent, during a colorful and celebratory dance party!
- MOAD Tour of the Koubek Mansion:Join Miami historian Casey Piket for guided tours at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., exploring the historic Koubek Mansion’s elegance and storied past.
- Afro-Cuban Dance Class Observation:From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., witness the vibrant energy of Afro-Cuban dance with instructor Marisol Blanco.
