Marlins Players, Coaches and Broadcasters visited Select Classrooms in South Florida
The Marlins last week held Marlins@School as players, coaches and broadcasters visited students in participating classrooms in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. For the ninth consecutive year, the Marlins organization interacted with students as they showcased special presentations about using the Marlins@School curriculum. The Marlins visited a total of 12 South Florida classrooms during the two-day event.

Marlins@School is an online curriculum enhancing teaching instrument that assists educators in teaching Florida’s required standards on the following subjects: Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Physical Education, and Geography. All five web-based chapters comply with FCAT requirements and are centered on four of the 2011 Marlins players as well as the manager Edwin Rodriguez.

This downloadable program is designed to enrich the education of children by using the excitement and relevance of baseball as an additional teaching method. The program is available at no cost to all teachers and is accessible through the official Marlins@School website, http://www.marlinsatschool.com

Four Marlins players have supported different lessons featured in the program: Chris Coghlan, Josh Johnson, Hanley Ramirez, and Chris Volstad. Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez has also been featured as part of the lesson plans.

Paton Publishing, located in Toronto, Canada, produced, created and implemented the Marlins@School program in conjunction with the Florida Marlins.
