MARLINS CELEBRATE DEDICATION OF INSPIRATION VILLAGE IN HAITI

The Marlins and Food For The Poor are proud to announce that Inspiration Village in Haiti is now officially complete. The Marlins held a campaign in 2010 to raise funds and awareness to build much-needed housing in Haiti. Sixteen months after the devastating earthquake, this dream has become a reality.  Nearly 200 displaced victims have found a permanent home in Inspiration Village.

Donations to the Homes for Haiti campaign led to the construction of the new village consisting of 25 two-room houses with personal sanitation units. The community received a water well, a solar powered water purification unit, and a community center to offer the opportunity for further education in agricultural and animal husbandry, as well as vocational skills training. These services will assist the farmers in achieving maximum results from their efforts in order to support their families and make the community sustainable.

Marlins Executives, including P.J. Loyello, Sr. VP of Communications and Broadcasting, Sean Flynn, Sr. VP of Marketing and Angela Smith, Director of Community Outreach, Billy The Marlin and Marlins front office staff together with Dawn McCormick, Community Affairs Manager for Waste Management will visit Cap-Haitien, Haiti from May 3 through May 5 to celebrate the dedication of Inspiration Village.

Important: Footage of the trip to Haiti and Inspiration Village will be available to media. Those interested in footage of the trip, images or additional information, please contact Carolina Perrina at cperrina@marlins.com .

“We are proud to have made the dreams of displaced earthquake victims a reality,” said P.J. Loyello. “Thanks to the efforts of all those that contributed to this campaign 25 families now have a home to call their own.”

The need for housing in this area exceeds the 25 homes Inspiration Village provides.
