Lexus has formed a new partnership with the renowned Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) and acclaimed artist and architect Suchi Reddy, founder of Reddymade Architecture and Design, to present an installation in the museum’s Sculpture Garden during Miami Art & Design Week (30 November to 4 December).
This year’s immersive Lexus installation by Lexus, the fifth to be presented at Miami Art & Design Week, references the Electrified Sport car, a next-generation Lexus research vehicle that pushes the boundaries of technology and craft, while highlighting the potential of electrification.
Inspired by the idea of the Lexus Electrified Sport being ‘shaped by air’, Reddy’s installation celebrates the Lexus’s commitment to human-centred, carbon-neutral and impeccably crafted design. The work envisions the vehicle shaped by mist and light, in complete harmony with the environment through use of eco-friendly, natural materials.

Artist and architect Suchi Reddy, born in Chennai, India, is based in New York. She founded her award-winning design practice Reddymade in 2002, to address the economic, social, environmental and cultural impacts of design on both the user and the planet. The practice is recognised globally for its human-centric approach to design and is guided by Neuroaesthetics, the study of how the brain responds to the design of one’s surroundings. Reddy’s design ethos, ‘form follows feeling,’ demonstrates her conviction that good design, calibrated carefully to the human, positively influences wellbeing, creativity, and productivity. Her ICA Miami installation will respond formally to the elegant design of the Lexus Electrified Sport, illustrating the environmental values she shares with Lexus.

Its environmental mission through electrification of its fleet reflects responsible leadership. I am honoured to interpret this ethos this year in our installation at the ICA in during Miami Art & Design Week. Throughout Miami Art & Design week, Lexus will also host Lexus Art Series: Art and Innovation talks with Whitewall, a programme of discussions and talks between Lexus ambassadors and industry leaders across the art and design worlds. Further details will be provided in November.
