LCD SOUNDSYSTEM AT THE INTIMATE FILLMORE MIAMI BEACH AT THE JACKIE GLEASON THEATRE

The unique musical talents of LCD Soundsystem come to the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre on Wednesday October 6th at 8PM.  Sleigh Bells is featured as the opening act.  This is part of the Cruzan Concert Series.

LCD Soundsystem debuted with “Losing My Edge, a single that became one of the most talked-about indie releases ever. A self-effacing spoof of the outrageous pissing contests that often occur whenever music geeks cross paths, laid over a puttering electronic beat with the occasional bursts of discoid clatter, the track was also one of the first released on the DFA label. Several magazines and newspapers would eventually declare James Murphy, the man behind both LCD Soundsystem and DFA, to be one of the coolest people on the planet. Murphy scattered three other LCD singles before releasing a self-titled full-length album. The second proper LCD Soundsystem album, Sound of Silver, was released in March 2007. It contained Murphy’s most affecting songwriting and peaked within the Top 50 of the Billboard 200. Led by the single “Drunk Girls” and an accompanying Spike Jonze-directed video, LCD Soundsystem’s third studio album, This Is Happening, was released this year to another round of great critical acclaim.

Sleigh Bells is an American noise pop music duo. The group released their debut album, Treats, on May 11, 2010.  Based in Brooklyn, New York, the duo is composed of Derek E. Miller (songwriter, guitarist, producer) and Alexis Krauss (vocals). They met and formed in 2008, when Miller was waiting tables on Alexis and her mother at a neighborhood Brazilian restaurant. Miller mentioned he was looking for a female vocalist to work with on a musical project, for which Alexis’ mother immediately volunteered her. Miller was formerly the guitarist for the post-hardcore band Poison the Well and Krauss was a member of the teen pop group Rubyblue. The duo performed at the CMJ Music Marathon in 2009. They have released several tracks online, which have gained attention from the New York Times, Pitchfork Media, ABC’s Amplified, and other sources. Pitchfork named their song “Crown on the Ground” the 57th best track of 2009.
