Lace Up Your Sneakers for the Be A Hero-Run4Kids 5K Race Celebrating Community “All proceeds benefit the David Posnack JCC & Lauren’s Kids!

The 2nd annual Be A Hero-Run4Kids 5k Race is set for Sunday, January 29, 2023. The event is driven by the motivation of hundreds of competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, stroller pushers, wheelchair racers, and tail-waggers who will hit the pavement for the 5K Run/Walk, Kids Fun Walk and an explosion of color as participants cross the finish line Color Run finale.

All proceeds will benefit the David Posnack JCC’s Giborim United Program, which provides enrichment classes and summer camp for children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as Lauren’s Kids programs which educates adults and children about child sexual abuse prevention through in-school curricula, awareness campaigns, and speaking engagements.

WPLG  – Local 10 Chief Certified Meteorologist Betty Davis and BIG 105.9 Radio icon Paul Castronovo will kick off opening ceremonies and serve as masters of ceremonies. Participants from the tri-county area will take on the USATF-certified course that will begin at the DPJCC campus and head north to Griffin Road, wrapping around 82nd Avenue and returning back to the DPJCCs Miami Dolphin Field. Professionally timed by AccuChip, the run will be monitored and managed by volunteers and staff of DPJCC and Lauren’s Kids. As one of the most inclusive friendly events in the industry, each runner will receive an Official Race Packet Tote Swag Bag, courtesy of Gold Coast Beverages, along with a dry-fit shirt, courtesy of Ronald Book, P.A., and a chipped Race Bib, brought to you by the Craig Zinn Automotive Group.

Post-race, this family-friendly event offers a plethora of complimentary and exciting activities such as a kid’s fun-zone complete with a giant Sports Obstacle Course, Lucky Multi Castle Bounce House, live performances by the HipHop Kidz, two live DJs, mascots, face-painting, resources from local law enforcement agencies, and non-profit organizations, and much more. All First Responders and Active Military are invited to participate free of charge. Additionally, event participants will enjoy complimentary breakfast courtesy of PepsiCo, Sterling Group Food, Menchies Frozen Yogurt-Davie, and Pro-X International, which have sponsored an assortment of fresh fruits, drinks, and snacks.

We encourage all runners and walkers to register in advance. Bring your tail-waggers and come dressed as your favorite superheroes to participate in our costume contests (pets, too!)
