KIMPTON’S EPIC HOTEL BRINGS BACK PAGE TURNER SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The joys of summer reading return as Kimpton’s EPIC Hotel in downtown Miami kicks off its EPIC Page Turner program, providing guests with access to today’s modern-day epics, including some of the summer’s newest releases, when and how they choose.  First introduced last summer, this year’s EPIC Page Turner program has new partners, new offerings, and new freebies and savings for book-lovers to enjoy.

As the first of its kind digital, virtual and hard-copy hotel guest reading program, EPIC’s Page Turner program will continue to provide guests with complimentary hard copy titles for adults and children, along with access to pre-loaded Sony Reader Digital Books, as well as the ability to browse through pre-selected digital excerpts online via the EPIC Virtual Nightstand.

New this summer, EPIC has teamed up with leading Miami-based independent bookseller, Books & Books, to provide guests with books-on-demand delivered right to their room at an exclusive savings.  EPIC has also created a special Page Turner stay offer, providing those who book a minimum two-night, three-day stay with 25% off the best available rate, plus a complimentary copy of their favorite title from the EPIC Virtual Nightstand delivered in-room (use reservation code: READ when booking by phone or online, offer valid through September 30, 2010).

For summer 2010, the EPIC Page Turner guest reading program includes the following:

Snuggle Up with a Good Book This summer, EPIC has partnered with Crown Publishing Group, a division of Random House, which has selected four of its new releases especially for EPIC guests.  Crown will provide copies of each throughout the summer, which the hotel will distribute to guests complimentary (while supplies last).  This year’s featured freebie book titles are:

Think of a Number A Novel, by John Verdon (thriller) – a retired NYPD homicide detective returns to “the life” to solve a brutal murder and all-out vendetta against the police from a sadistic letter-writer.

Female Nomad and Friends Tales of Breaking Free and Breaking Bread Around the World, by Rita Golden Gelman (essays) – this collection of non-fiction stories from authors and travelers about their connections through food and travel pays homage to the wonders of traveling, connecting, cooking and eating around the world.

Shift Part One of the Gate of Orpheus Trilogy, by Tim Kring and Dale Peck (thriller) – Heroes creator Tim Kring injects history with a supernatural, hallucinogenic, what-if? in this new caliber of thriller set at the collision of ‘60s counterculture and the rise of dark forces in the world of government.

Resilience, by Elizabeth Edwards (autobiography) – One of the most beloved political figures in the country, and the bestselling author of Saving Graces, shares her inspirational message on the challenges and blessings of coping with adversity.

For the kids, EPIC has once again teamed up with the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe, whose mission is to promote early developmental learning and child literacy.  Throughout the summer, EPIC will provide children (up to eight years old) with a complimentary book they can read and take home, courtesy of the Coalition.

Catch Up on Your Summer Reading Poolside or Online EPIC guests can also enjoy a good read digitally by reserving one of several Sony Reader Digital Books available.  The complimentary service allows guests to check-out and return the Sony Digital Books daily throughout their stay.  While EPIC has pre-loaded each Reader with a variety of titles including thrillers, biographies and true crime stories, guests may request the download of additional titles to read during their stay for the cost of the eBook, plus a nominal download fee that EPIC will donate to the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe.

To read from your desktop, EPIC has also has created the EPIC Virtual Nightstand on the hotel’s website (http://www.epichotel.com/epic-page-turner/).  Complete with book jacket art and a reader-friendly, page-turning format, the book excerpts available on the EPIC Virtual Nightstand include 15 specially-selected titles from Crown Publishing, that guests can preview online from their room, home or anywhere they can connect to the Internet.

Books on Demand – Delivered Straight to Your Room New this summer, is EPIC’s “books-on-demand” service.  Guests can arrange to have a book delivered directly to their room by visiting the EPIC Virtual Nightstand before or during their stay, and selecting one of the Crown titles featured for purchase directly from Books & Books, which has extended an exclusive 10% discount to EPIC guests.  Guests who loan out one of EPIC’s digital readers, and may not finish an eBook during their stay, may also use the books on demand service to purchase a hard copy to take home.

Author Meet-and-Greets EPIC continues its series of book signings and “art of storytelling” events this summer with author visits during the hotel’s complimentary daily wine hour program, which gives guests an opportunity to mix and mingle with authors in an intimate setting.  For information on future “art of storytelling” events scheduled, guests should visit EPIC on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/EPICHotel).
