The “Mojitos, Heels & Wheels” event was presented by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants at its EPIC Hotel in Downtown Miami on Thursday, August 11, 2011 to recognize its locally-based Women InTouch members, Kimpton’s loyal base of female customers.

“What traveling takes out of women, Kimpton helps put back in, through our distinctive style of hospitality which is designed to welcome, restore and inspire,” said Niki Leondakis, President and Chief Operating Officer, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “Our Women InTouch program in particular, supports the specific needs of the frequent female executive business traveler – health, wellness, ease, convenience and the need for a little fun every once in a while.”

Kimpton’s Women InTouch program includes hosting dinner events across the country for members, with each event serving as a chance to enjoy spirited fun, signature tastes and cocktails and memorable experiences. Kimpton’s Women InTouch events are held in cities throughout the U.S. where their members are based and where Kimpton has hotels. This is the first Women InTouch event to be held in South Florida, where Kimpton maintains the highest concentration of program members.

During EPIC’s Women InTouch “Mojitos, Heels & Wheels” event, members were treated to a fashion show by eight Women InTouch members who agreed to walk the runway in fashions and accessories provided by Neiman Marcus and Tiffany & Co., respectively. Neiman Marcus’ public relations manager, Katharine Rubino, gave the ladies in attendance an insider’s view on the hot trends for fall – color blocks, shimmers, lady-like details and accessories such as hand-held handbags and the color of the season: Bordeaux, followed by a runway show that included looks by Lanvin, Helmut Lang, St. John Knits, Badgley Mischka and Herve Leger.

Co-presenting the runway looks was Deborah Koch, general manager of Tiffany, Bal Harbour, which accessorized the ladies in a variety of looks from their Paloma Picasso, Keys and Marakesh-inspired collections.

The event kicked off with a Mojito-making lesson by Area 31 mixologist, Gaston, followed by a contest with teams of Women InTouch members creating their own version of Miami’s signature drink. The prize: having their Mojito recipe added to EPIC’s summer bar menu, along with the winners’ names, and proceeds from each drink sold through Labor Day benefitting Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that assists economically-challenged women as they transition from unemployment to self-sufficiency.

With a panel of judges that included Paige Dunn, regional director of sales and marketing, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants; Eric Jellson, area director of sales and marketing, EPIC Miami; and Megan Ratti, general manager, Area 31, the honors for the evening’s best Mojito went to Emily Kierce, Alery Delgado, Carrie Gits, Diana Beaz, Daniela Di Catarina, and Heather Rice, who included strawberries and pineapple in their version of the classic cocktail they named the “Tropical Sunrise Mojito.”

Before and after the contest, members networked, made new friends, got treated to nail color changes by Exhale spa, sipped on specialty cocktails, enjoyed light bites created by EPIC’s Area 31 restaurant, and won specially-chosen gifts from Tiffany, weekend test-drives of the new Audi A-7, and future stays at EPIC and other Kimpton hotels.
