KALEIDOSCOPE PIANO CONCERT SERIES 2019/2020

KALEIDOSCOPE PIANO CONCERT SERIES is an initiative that aspires to present new works along with established masterpieces of the piano literature in colorful and eclectic programs linked by an underlying theme. These programs bring together music from various periods, styles, countries, cultures, aesthetics, and philosophies.

Kaleidoscope Piano Concert Series was founded by Redi LlupaInesa Gegprifti, Akina Yura, Maria Sumareva (pianists) and Rodrigo Bussad (composer). It began with Soirée Japonaise, a program highlighting the interplay between Western and Japanese aesthetics through the music of Debussy, Takemitsu, Shishido, and Bussad (world premiere of the piano cycle Moon Inside I). The musical eclecticism and thematic unity of this program inspired a continuing exploration of connections between new or rarely heard works and masterpieces of the standard piano repertory in subsequent Kaleidoscope concerts. All concerts feature brief presentations about the works prior to each performance, given by the performers or composers themselves. These presentations aim to unveil the cultural, ideological, or musical contexts and the significance of each work.
