John Fogerty, former frontman of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), has triumphantly reclaimed the rights to his music after years of legal battles with record labels. With his beloved red Rickenbacker guitar once again in his possession, Fogerty shared his remarkable life story and performed his iconic songs at a recent concert at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on Sunday, July 30, 2023, marking it as a celebration tour.

Fogerty’s path to reclaiming his music was not an easy one. While many musicians today sell the copyrights to their work for financial gain, Fogerty fought tirelessly to regain control over his musical creations. The split with CCR in 1972 set off a decades-long struggle with record labels, but finally, his determination paid off, enabling him to perform his own music once again.

During the show, Fogerty’s elation was palpable as he exclaimed, “I’ve got my music back!” This tour, he declared, was not just a musical journey, but a heartfelt family affair. Opening the night was Hearty Har, a band that included his sons Shane and Tyler Fogerty, delivering a spirited performance of 1960s garage rock. The setlist was a collection of CCR classics, including hits such as “Up Around the Bend,” “Green River,” and “Travelin’ Band.”

The audience, predominantly of a more mature crowd, remained seated for most of the show but showed their appreciation with resounding applause. It was a nostalgic and emotional experience for many, as they reminisced about the impact CCR’s music had on their youth. Fogerty stayed true to his signature style, showcasing his guitar skills through multiple instrument changes, harmonica medleys, and, of course, his classic flannel shirt, which he affectionately admitted to loving.

This concert was deeply personal for Fogerty, as he dedicated the soulful 1997 solo track, “Joy of My Life,” to his wife of over 32 years, Julie Kramer. A montage of their life and love played in the background, provoking heartfelt emotions from both Fogerty and the audience. He expressed his gratitude for her unwavering support, acknowledging that he wouldn’t be where he is today without her.

The night wrapped up with an encore featuring the beloved hits “Centerfield” and “Proud Mary.” The crowd erupted in cheers and joined Fogerty in celebrating his hard-fought victory, raising glasses of champagne brought on stage by the man himself.

John Fogerty’s journey serves as an inspiration to all artists who face challenges in protecting their creative legacies. Despite the obstacles he encountered, Fogerty never wavered in his pursuit of justice. On this special evening, we raise our glasses to toast his triumph and express our gratitude for the powerful and timeless catalog of music he has gifted us.

Tonight, we celebrate you, John Fogerty. Thank you for reclaiming your rightful place in music history and continuing to inspire generations with your unforgettable songs. Your legacy lives on.

Spread the love!
