Hospitality Relief Fund-$1M in Funds Available

The Miami Downtown Development Authority is partnering with FIU, SOBEWFF, and others to roll out the  SOBEWFF & FIU Chaplin School Hospitality Relief Fund. As of today, the fund has raised $1M+ and each qualified applicant can receive up to $15,000 until the fund is exhausted. In under a week the fund has been heavily drawn upon so we are calling on our restaurants to apply as soon as possible. Each restaurant can receive up to $15,000 to assist their employees who have been furloughed, laid off, or whose incomes have been significantly reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Program Summary
  • Applicant Pool: Tri-county area independently owned restaurants and bars
  • Fund Use: Only intended for employees who have been furloughed, laid off, or whose incomes have been significantly reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each business owner (applicant) must provide the appropriate documentation of payout to employees (i.e. copies of pay stubs, bank account information, or any other documentation acceptable to FIU at its discretion)
  • Fund Distribution: Qualified applicants will receive funds on a first-come first-serve basis. $500 per employee until a $15,000 maximum is reached. It’s the restaurant or bar owner’s responsibility to ensure that the money gets distributed amongst his/her employees who have been furloughed, laid off, or whose incomes have been significantly reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic
