Honey Bugs are bright young girls from economically challenged Miami area neighborhoods, referred to us by all our partner organizations. Their ethnicities encompass a wide rich array of the South Florida community. Our girls come from as far south as Homestead and extend north to the Miami Gardens/North Miami area. Liberty City, Allapattah, Little Haiti, Overtown, Little Havana, and Wynwood are just some of the areas in between that our girls live in. Our girls range in age from 8 to 18 years of age. For the 2012 -2013 we serviced 187 and averaged 113 girls a workshop. Our goal is to have the girls continue with Honey Shine as volunteers/mentors after they graduate from High School.
