HMS Donates IndyCar Championship Package to Oprah Safety Effort

Champions Club/Pit Road VIP packages for IndyCar Championship Weekend (Oct. 1-2) at Homestead-Miami provided to support Oprah Winfrey’s “No Phone Zone” beneficiary

Zach Veach, 15-year-old Andretti Autosport USF2000 National Championship driver, announced today he has launched a “Miami IZOD IndyCar/Indy 500 VIP Package” charity auction featuring a 16 GB Apple iPad signed by all 33 drivers competing in this year?s Indianapolis 500—the world?s largest single-day sporting event.

The auction is open now through charitybuzz, the leading destination for charity auctions, and will benefit FocusDriven, an advocacy group for victims of motor vehicle crashes involving drivers using cell phones, and the official beneficiary of Oprah Winfrey?s “No Phone Zone” campaign. Bidding is now open at: charitybuzz.com/focusdriven.

“I?m thrilled we?ve assembled such an amazing prize package to benefit FocusDriven and bring awareness to Oprah?s „No Phone Zone? campaign,” said Veach, who was instrumental in obtaining all 33 Indy 500 driver signatures for the auction and placed third this past weekend in his USF2000 debut at Mazda Raceway. “To all the athletes for lending their signatures, to Homestead-Miami Speedway, the IZOD IndyCar Series and to Helio Castroneves, thank you all very much for your contributions.”

The benchmark in the “Miami IZOD IndyCar/Indy 500 VIP Package” includes Apple?s iPad, signed by all 33 drivers competing in auto racing?s most prestigious event, the Indianapolis 500. The package also includes two VIP Champions Club passes and two Pit & Garage credentials for the Oct. 2 NextEra Energy Indy Championships on Homestead-Miami Speedway?s 1.5-mile oval.

“I want an iPad too,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matt Becherer. “I hope the winner sends me a message during IndyCar Championship Weekend here. This is a worthy cause, and I?m glad Homestead-Miami Speedway is helping further the commitment to road safety.”

In addition, the “Miami IZOD IndyCar/Indy 500 VIP Package” winner will take three laps around the Homestead-Miami oval before the Oct. 2 Championship in the Indy Racing Experience two- seater at a blistering speed of nearly 180 mph. The winner will then be treated to a personal meet-and-greet with three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Dancing with the Stars champion and 2010 Indy 500 Pole Position winner, Helio Castroneves. The winners will be outfitted with a complete clothing package from IZOD that includes a shirt, hat, umbrella and a 25-percent discount card for any of PVH?s brands, including IZOD, Calvin Klein and Van Heusen. Online bidding in the “Miami IZOD IndyCar/Indy 500 VIP Package” auction is now open to the global community through June 11, 2010.
