On Friday, April 15, rakontur, the Miami-based media studio founded by Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman responsible for globally popular Cocaine Cowboys and The U, hosted an after party at Cafeina Wynwood Lounge celebrating the Miami premiere of Square Grouper: The Godfathers of Ganja, the duo’s latest documentary examining the free-wheeling pot smuggling era of South Florida in the 1970s. Over 500 guests were in attendance at the Wynwood boite and enjoyed beats by DJ duo Ess & Emm, along with ganja-themed cocktails such as the Mary Jane mojito, Liquid Cocaine and the Godmother. One lucky guest won an advance copy of the film, which hits stands on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Having recently debuted at SxSW Film Festival, 8 of 12 screenings of Square Grouper were sold out at O Cinema over the weekend.
