The High School Instrumental Ensemble Concert will feature the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Brent Mounger, as well as the Camerata String Ensemble and the High School Philharmonia, under the direction of Dr. Hyunjee Chung.

The program will feature Frank Ticheli’s “Angels in the Architecture;” David Gillingham’s “Concerto for Piano, Percussion and Wind Orchestra,” featuring piano faculty, Ciro Fodere; and a South Florida premiere by composer Andrew Boss entitled, “Chloe.” Also performed on the program will be Benjamin Britten’s “Simple Symphony,” that was intended for a chamber orchestra and the inspiration for the piece came from his desire to write music that was simple and accessible to a wider audience, while still retaining artistic qualities. Written in four movements, each with its own unique character and mood, it is a delightful piece of music known for its simple yet elegant melodies. Witold Lutoslawski’s “Little Suite,” performed by the High School Philharmonia, is a charming and whimsical composition comprised of short movements that include dance movements and lullaby, each showcasing Lutoslawski’s playful and innovative musical style.
