Hettler.Tüllmann turns Malawian craft into comfy seats at Untitled Fair

Hettler. Tüllmann’s work at Untitled Art.
Using baskets and other crafts conceived together with the Malawian social enterprise “People of the Sun,” the woman duo created comfortable, unassumingly sturdy seats for the SP 9 & 11 lounges, making them a calmer and cheerful place to enjoy the surrounding booths from.

At SP 9, in particular, Hettler.Tüllmann showcases four woven chairs from its Okoma collection, created in partnership with People of the Sun. The studio also presented its Fred and Jacob woven chairs, produced in collaboration with the German basketmaker Flechtwerk Berlin, and the playful Puli Chair.

SP11, features Hettler.Tüllmann’s Nest installation, six basket-like seats that are also designed in collaboration with People of the Sun. Two of the chairs are arranged as a photo-friendly “loveseat” in the 19th-century style, where the seats are placed at opposite angles.
