Famed Swedish handmade bed maker Hästens’ $189,000 flagship bed, Vividus, as it launches in Miami at Brickell Mattress (1030 SW 8th St. Miami, FL 33130).
Hästens beds are handmade with all-natural materials such as cotton, wool, mohair and horsehair at their atelier in Köping, Sweden.
Each Vividus bed takes about 320 working hours by 4 certified craftsmen to create at the Vividus atelier in Köping, Sweden. Every piece of the bed is handmade, with the best natural, pure materials available. The original Vividus took about 160 hours (launched 11 years ago) to create, so each new model requires much more time as a result of new features and detailing. This new version features increased pliability to contour the body better, taking care of every point of the body that keeps the spine completely straight, while releasing tension points. The bed’s new construction features include an improved spring system in the base and a new layer of hand-teased horse hair to ensure higher springiness that also absorbs moisture. Hästens built a separate atelier for the creation of Vividus, at a level of quality that has never been seen before in a bed. Everything from the hand sewn layers of horsehair and cotton to the hand tied bolster springs are all adapted to fit specific customer requirements.
