Four local charities are beneficiaries of the upcoming Pineapple Jamboree celebrating 65 years of business in Pompano Beach. The Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce is throwing the fundraising bash in grand style at the Historic Sample McDougald House on Nov. 9. Everyone in the community is invited to come out and have an evening of fun, food and drink in a historic location to support the following charities in addition to the Chamber.
Pompano Has Heart: Pompano Has Heart was formed to be a vehicle to provide a channel for the people of Pompano Beach to become more effective in assisting others in areas of need around the world by providing supplies and to assist individuals in their recovery activities.
Sample McDougald House Preservation Society: The Sample-McDougald House Preservation Society is a Florida not-for-profit corporation founded in 1999 to preserve the house as a museum, historic structure and social center for the community, thus furthering the social, cultural and historic viability of the community.
Pompano Beach Historical Society: The Pompano Beach Historical Society’s mission is to collect, preserve and publicize the history of the greater Pompano Beach area through archives of historical documents and images, public programs, lecture series, museum exhibits, publications, advocacy, the Pompano Beach Saturday Green Market and other activities.
“We are honored to be able to serve and assist the Pompano area’s business community for 65 years,” said Ric Green, president of the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce. “What better place to celebrate than at a home that stands as an example of the communities early working roots.”
Enjoy an evening of fun celebrating the history of Pompano Beach with a bounce house derby, BBQ, complimentary wine and beer, pineapple cocktails and jello shots, live entertainment and more as you tour history and mingle with the local community at the beautiful historic Sample McDougald House.
“The Sample McDougald is happy to host the Pineapple Jamboree – the chamber has played an important part in local history so it’s appropriate the event is held here echoing the history of the area,” said Dan Hobby who is involved with Sample-McDougald House and is Pompano’s historian.
