Greater Miami & the Beaches Heats Up New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week With a Stop on the 2011 ‘Express Yourself Tour’

Greater Miami and the Beaches will warm the coolest fashionistas during the Fall 2011 collections showing at New York’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. On February 15, 2011 the Miami “Express Yourself” Lounge will be open 11am – 7pm at The Empire Hotel’s rooftop, 44 West 63rd Street (at Broadway), providing guests with Miami spa experiences as well as a taste of Miami fashion design and culture.

Courtesy of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), visitors will experience an oasis amongst the buzz of Fashion Week with masseuses available for relaxing back and hand treatments, specialty cocktails, free Wi-Fi, and an opportunity to pose for Miami self-portraits before a green screen backdrop.  The lounge includes fashion showcases featuring the latest creations from Miami-based designers including:  shoe designs by Xiomara Lisette (www.xiomaralisette.com), originally-inspired & hand beaded jewelry by Aria Nero (www.arianero.com) and unique fashion designs by Krelwear (www.krelwear.com). The Lounge will provide designers, models, media, fashion industry and visitors a convenient spot to warm up and learn about the destination’s design scene, spa options and global fashion events such as Miami Beach International Fashion Week, Funkshion, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, Salon Allure and the SwimShow & LingerieShow.  Attendees will learn about the Miami Beach 25/7 campaign and the Miami Boutique Hotels program including a chance to win an all-expense paid Miami Spa getaway and stay at the beautiful Grove Isle Hotel and Spa.

“A major component of the GMCVB’s ‘Express Yourself’ marketing campaign is to highlight Miami’s originality much in the same way New York Fashion Week does for established designers and those on the rise,” said William D. Talbert, III, CDME, president and chief executive officer, GMCVB.  “With great weather year-round, top-ranked beaches, a diverse cultural landscape and being an international gateway, Miami is a muse for its local design talent.”

Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week is the second stop on the GMCVB’s “Express Yourself” road tour which will visit five major events during 2011, including Sundance Film Festival (January/Park City), SXSW (March/Austin), Atlanta Jazz Festival (May/Atlanta), Pride Toronto (July/Canada) and Lollapalooza (August/Chicago).  The 2011 “Express Yourself Tour” is another phase of Miami’s push for more affluent and sophisticated travelers.  www.MiamiExpressYourselfTour.com.
