GMSHRM Launches Health & Wellness Conference April 12, 2011 – Miami Florida

The Greater Miami Society for Human Resources Management (GMSHRM) is launching its first Annual Health and Wellness Conference and Expo.  The all-day event is planned for April 12, 2011 at Jungle Island and will provide participants with proven resources to implement effective health and wellness programs – both on a personal and on a business level.  It will also address the legal and financial challenges facing employers and employees, as they try to transform from unhealthy to healthy. The conference will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the “Wellness ROI” and real world strategies to implement wellness initiatives in their organization.

“In an era that will be driven by unhealthy lifestyles and budget conscious corporate administrators, how can HR sell the benefits of health and wellness?,” commented Margaret Spence, GMSHRM Vice President at-Large for Professional Development. The greatest challenge faced by employers today is, providing cost effective health benefits to their employees while instilling personal responsibility for health and wellness. Employers continue to struggle to find ways to help employees lead a healthy lifestyle. This conference will answer the burning questions: Can we mandate wellness in the workplace? What is the employer’s responsibility in the wellness process? How do we engage employees to participate in their own wellness initiative and how can we effect change without blowing our already stretched budgets?

With the backdrop of a true wellness conference, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in health checks “Wellness Starts with Us”– an on-site Clinic, offering blood pressure checks, BMI, diabetes evaluation and much more.  The conference will also provide access to vendors, clinicians, value-added providers as well as a panel of experts and employers who have successfully navigated, proven the value ROI and implemented wellness initiatives.
