GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL OF TROPICAL FLORIDA HOSTED ITS ANNUAL "FIESTA DE QUINCEÑERA" – Six young ladies from migrant families celebrated a traditional Fifteen's party

Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida hosted its annual “Fiesta de Quinceñera” for six young ladies from the Homestead and Florida City area, which come from migrant families. The Quinceñera’s, Karina Rodriguez, Ana Zenteno, Estefania Loredo, Maria Marceleno, Roxana Cervantes and Gabriela Ponce, enjoyed the traditional coming of age ceremony and reception on August 7 at the Homestead Community Center.

“Fiesta De Quinceañera” is a Girl Scout Council of Tropical Florida program in partnership with Ford Motor Company Foundation, Mexican American Council and Miami-Dade County Public School Migrant Education Program. The reception also represented the girls’ graduation from the Uniquely ME! Self-esteem Program, a multi-faceted self-esteem building program, with activities ranging from character building, community service, goal setting, etiquette, hygiene, health and nutrition and Quinceañera traditions.

The Quinceñera’s wore traditional Quince dresses donated from Pink Champagne and Roses and their father’s wore Guayaberas donated by The Guayabera Lady in Coral Gables. The young ladies also received a VIP treatment at Beauty Schools of America, which included hair, make-up, manicure and pedicure services. Other sponsors included BJ’s Wholesale Club and Demi by Desi. Decorations, music, photography, choreography and cake were also donated by volunteers.
