Frost Science YP Exclusive: Coral Reef Expedition – February 18

Join Frost Science Museum Volunteers for the Environment (MUVE) on Monday, February 18 as we invite our Young Patron cardholders to participate in coral research and restorationon South Florida coral reefs with The University of Miami’s coral restoration program, Rescue a Reef.

On February 18, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., participants will be diving at Rescue a Reef’s coral nurseries where you will clean growing coral, gather fragments and then plant them onto nearby wild reefs. Young Patrons will learn about coral reef conservation and work alongside Frost Science and UM researchers. Take a peek here at what your day of reef rescue will look like:

This opportunity is being offered exclusively for Young Patrons at a reduced rate of $40 per dive and $20 per snorkeler.* Includes two shallow water dives led by UM researchers and tanks; gear rental is paid separately directly to the dive shop on the day of the event (prices range depending on gear needs/prices are subject to change). Snacks and water will be provided. Dives will take place at Diver’s Paradise of Key Biscayne, 4000 Crandon Blvd, Key Biscayne, FL 33149.

*Skill Requirement: Participants must be strong swimmers that can snorkel and/or scuba divers that are Open Water certified. Must be at least 18 years of age.
