The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, in partnership with Miami gospel radio station WMBM 1490 AM and Jubilate, Inc., proudly announce the final installation of the wildly successful, free community series, FREE GOSPEL SUNDAYS. The final performance this season features premier gospel vocalist, VANESSA BELL ARMSTRONG, with Miami-Dade’s best and brightest choirs on the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall stage for an afternoon of uplifting music.
This concert is the latest installment in the Adrienne Arsht Center’s extraordinarily popular FREE GOSPEL SUNDAYS series, which has been supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation since the 2008/09 season, and just received a two-year, $200,000 Knight Arts Challenge Grant to continue the series into the Center’s 2010/11 season. The Knight Arts Challenge is a community-wide contest to fund the best arts ideas in South Florida. By supporting this series, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation challenges South Florida organizations to create and invest in the arts while fostering community togetherness.

Vanessa Bell Armstrong is a seven-time Grammy®-nominated gospel singer whose hits have climbed the U.S. Billboard charts during her more than 20 years in the business. Her recent album “The Experience,” is an awe-inspiring compilation of live-recorded gospel tunes, solidifying her stature as the premier gospel vocalist. Miami’s own New Shiloh Missionary Church and the Free Gospel Sundays Mass Choir will join Armstrong for this final Free Gospel Sundays concert of the 2009-2010 season.
