Former Prime Minister of Jamaica at Eric E. Williams Memorial Lecture

Former Prime Minister of Jamaica, Portia Lucretia Simpson-Miller, ON, MP, was key speaker for the 11th Annual Eric E. Williams Memorial Lecture at FIU.  The lecture was held on November 6, 2009, at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Portia Lucretia Simpson-Miller, ON, MP was the first female to serve as Prime Minister to Jamaica. Mrs. Miller held several government posts, and is presently the Leader of the Opposition Party (PNP). She is also an active member of the Council of Women World Leaders, an International network of current and former women presidents and prime ministers whose mission is to mobilize the highest-level women leaders globally for collective action on issues of critical importance to women and equitable development.

At the lecture she spoke on the, “A New Vision for a New World Reality: Prospects for the Anglophone Caribbean.”
