Florida Freedom Clinches PBR Teams Championship Spot After Weekend in Fort Worth

No. 3 Florida Freedom secured their berth for the upcoming PBR Teams Championship after a competitive showing at the Camping World Team Series event held over the weekend.*

On Sept. 26, the Freedom faced off against the No. 10 Arizona Ridge Riders, aiming for their seventh consecutive victory. Despite strong performances from Yan Victor Cunha and Thiago Salgado, the Freedom fell short, losing 267.25 to 177.5.

After a bye on Sept. 27, Florida returned to action on Sept. 28, defeating the Missouri Thunder 265.25 to 262.5. This crucial win not only guaranteed them a spot in the top six teams but also eliminated the need for a Ride-in-Round on Oct. 17 in Las Vegas.

Florida took an early lead against Missouri, with Alex Cerqueira scoring 88.5 points on Always Been Crazy. Missouri quickly responded, narrowing the gap to just 1 point with Paulo Eduardo Rossetto’s 87.5 points on Hay Ring. Florida widened their margin thanks to Joao Lucas Campos’ 8.75-point ride, building a maximum lead of 89.75 points.

Missouri made several attempts to close the gap, with standout rides from Andrew Alvidrez and others, but ultimately, they could not overcome the Freedom’s lead. The match culminated in a critical showdown where Dawson Gleaves scored 86 points, which was insufficient for a Missouri comeback.

The win marked Florida’s third victory over Missouri this season and improved their overall record to 15-10.

In the evening’s Shootout Round, Florida’s Crimber finished second with an impressive 89.75 points on Tulsa Time, moving him to No. 2 in the PBR Teams MVP race.

Following the event, replays of the PBR Teams action will be available on the Merit+ app, while fans can catch the next league event in Glendale, Arizona, beginning Oct. 4. The Freedom will face the Carolina Cowboys on opening night.
