Meet us on Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) beach for our Floating Films Series in collaboration with Ballyhoo Media! This season, watch iconic films and holiday favorites with the backdrop of Biscayne Bay.
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, watch “Selena” (1997), a biographical drama about Selena Quintanilla (Jennifer Lopez), who is born into a musical Mexican-American family in Texas. Her father, Abraham (Edward James Olmos), realizes his young daughter is talented and begins performing with her at small venues. She finds success and falls for her guitarist, Chris Perez (Jon Seda), who draws her father’s ire. Seeking mainstream stardom, Selena begins recording an English-language album which, tragically, she would never complete.
