FLITE Center West Palm Beach has been awarded a renovation grant from Excel Construction of Florida. The $15,000 grant was presented to FLITE Center’s executive team members on Thursday, August 17, designated as National Nonprofit Day. The grant, created to support nonprofit organizations in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties by providing constriction materials and labor for projects that have a positive impact on the community, will enhance the newly opened Falcon’s Ridge Emergency Landing Space in West Palm Beach.
“We are honored to receive Excel Construction of Florida’s grant that will allow us to move forward with these transformative enhancements in our new West Palm Beach emergency landing space,” said Christine Frederick, president and CEO of FLITE Center. “This grant will greatly enhance our ability to create safe, functional, and empowering spaces for the vulnerable youth we serve, leaving a lasting positive impact on their lives.”
Last October, FLITE Center added a 1,500-square-foot drop-in center located in the historic northwest sector of downtown West Palm Beach providing direct, hands-on services for youth in an area they can easily reach. This past February, new property space began providing a safe, secure and reliable immediate housing emergency landing space lovingly called Falcon’s Ridge for human trafficking survivor youth and their families. Currently, this consists of a two-bedroom apartment and FLITE Center is looking forward to expanding studio apartment style housing to the first floor when additional funding is secured for that rehabilitation project.
This grant funding has been earmarked to improve interior areas within the facility.
FLITE Center West Palm Beach’s programming is also supported by a grant from Voices for Florida’s Open Doors Outreach Network, the state’s leading trauma-informed 24/7 network for helping sex trafficked children and young adults.
