FIRST SEAT AT NEW MARLINS BALLPARK

Hanley Ramirez at the new Marlins Ballpark

With nineteen months into construction, the first seat was installed in the New Marlins Ballpark on Tuesday, February 15, 2011.

The distinctive red seat was a suggestion made by a Marlins season ticket holder who was on hand to witness his seat being installed (section 19, row H, seat 12). That very first seat will then be auctioned after the 2012 season with proceeds benefiting the Marlins Community Foundation, Cornerstones for Kids program.

Following the historic milestone, Marlins players had their first batting practice with first ground ball hit by Hanley Ramirez.

According to Marlins executives, the project is on-time, on-budget, and is about 60 percent complete.
