Fairchild’s Annual Members Day Plant Sale October 2

Distribution of rare, unusual plants to Fairchild members has had a long, rich tradition in South Florida. In 1939, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden had the first Members Plant Distribution. Today, much like 72 years ago, Fairchild’s Member’s Day Plant Sale is a wonderful opportunity for its members to purchase plants that are carefully selected and chosen for their color, rarity, beauty and interest by Fairchild’s horticulture staff. This year’s Member’s Day Plant Sale is on October 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In recent years, most of the plants offered for sale are propagated from plants growing in Fairchild or in the gardens of staff or volunteers.  In fact, many of the plants Fairchild offers are not available in local nurseries. The selection of plants for sale has an emphasis on rare native species in addition to introducing more common native plants to members who want to establish their own backyard habitats to attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife.

Not a Fairchild member? Don’t worry! Fairchild Membership Associates will be on hand to assist guests to become members both at the entrance to Fairchild’s Visitors Center and on-site at the entrance to the plant sale area so that they may immediately enjoy the Member’s Day Plant Sale. Plant valets will be available to aid guests with their purchases. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to get some wonderful plants you won’t find anywhere else!
