The series ends with a Bam! with Emeril Lagasse, celebrity chef, restaurateur, television star, bestselling author, James Beard Award winner, Johnson and Wales University graduate, and creator of the “New New Orleans” cajun and creole cuisine. The “Emeril Empire” of media, products and restaurants generates an estimated $150 million annually in revenue. A prolific author, his latest book takes you outdoors with “Emeril at the Grill: A Grilling Book for all seasons” (2009). Emeril will demonstrate some of his favorite recipes featuring South Florida ingredients.
The Adrienne Arsht Center is pleased to continue the partnership with Johnson & Wales University (JWU), a recognized leader in career education. College of
Culinary Arts students from JWU have the monumental opportunity to work closely with the celebrity chefs throughout the series. Not only do JWU students
have the opportunity to learn directly from role models within their industry, but they also enjoy a family style dinner with the celebrity chefs before each show.
Students will also prepare the chef’s featured dish to be sampled at the postshow VIP cocktail hour, and a select group of high-achieving students will assist
on stage during the cooking demonstration. “We are very pleased the Celebrity Chef Series is returning to the Center, and that we are able to provide this once-in-a-lifetime experience to our students,” says Loreen Chant, president of Johnson & Wales University North Miami Campus. “During the inaugural 2008-2009 series, 100 students had the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with some of the greats within the culinary world, which is a dream come true for them.”
