Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced today The Great Orchestra Series. Building on the success of last year’s sold-out orchestra series, the Dr. Phillip Center continues to attract the greatest ensembles and soloists to Orlando. The Great Orchestra Series debuts with one of the most popular orchestras in the world, London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Next is an encore performance by theCleveland Orchestra, recently proclaimed “the best orchestra in the world.” Followed by Europe’s most energetic orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Closing the season with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, led by Grammy Award-winning violinist, Joshua Bell.
The Great Orchestra Series is a cultural and artistic highlight of the Dr. Phillips Center’s 2023-24 season. Last season’s sold-out Great American Orchestra Series, brought three acclaimed orchestras to Steinmetz Hall. After conducting the Chicago Symphony’s performance,Maestro Ricardo Muti, its celebrated longtime music director, declared it “one of the greatest concert halls in the world.”

October 8th the season debuts with one of the most popular orchestras in the world, London’sRoyal Philharmonic Orchestra. In January 2022, the RPO and the Bach Festival Choir celebrated the grand opening of the new Steinmetz Hall. The Bach Festival Choir rejoins the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra this season, for a program featuring the greatest hits from Orchestra and chorus, conducted by Edwin Outwater.
The Cleveland Orchestra returns for an encore performance on February 4, under the baton of Karina Canellakis, along with Seong-Jin Cho, one of the leading pianists of his generation. The world-famous orchestra opened the Great American Orchestra Series in 2022; the brilliance of its execution brought the audience at Steinmetz Hall to their feet for numerous standing ovations. Founded more than 100 years ago, the Cleveland Orchestra is one of the historical “Big Five” American orchestras of the highest international standing.
On March 6, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the world’s most exciting orchestras, will make its Steinmetz Hall debut. Founded in 1918, the orchestra rose to international prominence in the 1970s with its intensely energetic performances. A golden age for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra began with the appointment of two of the most important conductors, Valery Gergiev followed by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Its current principal conductor, Laha Shani, is joined by Grammy Award winner Daniil Trifonov, acclaimed by the Times of London as “without question, the most astounding pianist of our age.”
The Great Orchestra Series concludes on March 22 with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. One of the best orchestras in the world, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields is known for its fresh and brilliant interpretations of the world’s greatest orchestral compositions. It’s music director and conductor, Grammy Award winning violinist Joshua Bell, has performed with virtually every major orchestra in the world and is one of the most celebrated artists of his era.
