The Døds Diving US National Championship and the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series will converge in South Florida for an exhilarating crossover event on August 3 at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center.
The extreme sport of Døds Diving, also known as Death Diving, originated in Oslo during the late 1970s and has since evolved into a global phenomenon. This thrilling style of diving features athletes performing acrobatic stunts from impressive heights. The championship in Fort Lauderdale will mark one of nine international events, with the winner securing a direct qualification for the Døds Diving World Championship in Oslo on August 17.
Meanwhile, the PBR’s fresh format, launched in 2022, transforms bull riding into a team-based competition. The Florida Freedom, representing Sunrise, will make their debut at Amerant Bank Arena this weekend during “Freedom Days,” held from August 2-4.
Adding further excitement, on August 3 at 2 p.m. ET, the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center will host a unique learning experience where eight elite bull riders will collaborate with top divers. This crossover promises an adrenaline-fueled afternoon powered by Monster Energy.
The event will also feature a media gathering welcoming the Florida Freedom, during which the City of Sunrise Commission will present a formal proclamation recognizing the bull riding team’s inaugural homestand. Commemorative jerseys, featuring a collaboration design with the Florida Panthers, will be unveiled.
Highlighting the event are prominent participants including J.B. Mauney, head coach of the Oklahoma Wildcatters; Daylon Swearingen of the Carolina Cowboys; and multiple renowned Døds divers such as Emil Lybekk, a two-time Døds World Champion.
